What can be better than a sense of wellbeing? A sense of achievement or goals and potentials realised.
Our Mentoring program aims to help, encourage and support disabled individuals from ME communities to overcome social isolation and facilitate access to a range of opportunities, in order for them to increase their confidence, self esteem, to learn new skills and to make better informed decisions about their life.
An independent development plan is developed for each mentee with set targets and objectives over a short to medium term period. A suitable mentor is selected to work with the mentee on a weekly basis and will help develop the individual gradually.
“I really enjoy meeting my mentor every week. I now get a chance to go out and do things I like to do such as shopping, going to the cinema and coffee shops. I was always scared to go out shopping by myself as I didn’t know how to get to the city centre and I was scared to go on a train or bus by myself. My mentor has shown me how to get to the train station, how to buy a ticket, get onto the right train and how to ask for help in case I get lost”
“I like my mentor, I see her nearly every week. She always says nice things to me and she listens to me. I enjoy going out with her and visiting different places, I feel that I am learning new things and I want to learn more”
